How Tech helped or hindered 2020, what we need to prepare for in 2021 and forward, why it is critical we all embrace technology.
The life and career Tests that came from 2020, how we will take these lessons into 2021, and what changes we will make as a result.
Our Triumphs from 2021 and how they will make 2021 more successful, how they defined our careers and the industry, how we must cheer on women in all their successes.
We want to address how women and marginalized communities, especially due to COVID-19, face unreasonable barriers and obstacles – how many leaders have taken steps and created initiatives that push to over come these challenges and how we must all work together to encourage and support our peers for success in Supply Chain and for Supply Chain.
Introduce WISC Association supporters who have made an impact, how they can share their story to encourage others, what needs to change, what is being done, and what still needs to be done.

Bio
Rindi Bristol – Senior Director, Whole Leaf, Star Produce Ltd.
Rindi holds a BComm. in Marketing from the University of Saskatchewan and has over 25 years experience in sales, including 15 years in the foodservice industry with Sysco and The Star Group. During her time with Sysco, Rindi was awarded Chairman’s Club Status for Sales Excellence in 2012 and is also a certified “Train the Trainor” facilitator. Rindi continually met sales goals and targets that included double digit sale and gross profit margin growth in a diversified foodservice territory.
After joining The Star Group in 2013 and sharpening her skills in procurement of Mexican and organic commodities, private label direct to store delivery programs and hyper local vertical and greenhouse programs, Rindi took a leadership role with the ground-breaking project of Whole Leaf in 2015. Since inception, Rindi has been immersed in everything from seed selection through to the end consumer. From marketing, packaging and new product development to category management and operations.
In 2016, Rindi was appointed Senior Director of Whole Leaf and continued to increase her responsibility with the start-up company while honing leadership skills with continued Executive Education at the Edwards School of Business in 2016 and 2017.
In 2019, Star Produce won The Golden Link award for product innovation and supplier excellence with Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada for a ground-breaking project to be the exclusive supplier of greenhouse grown lettuce to the Wendy’s network to restaurants across the country. In 2020, Whole Leaf was nominated for the Loblaw Innovative Supplier of the Year for PC Live Lettuce, a private label program that stretches coast to coast. Rindi has been an integral part of taking Whole Leaf and its consumer brand, Inspired Greens, from conception to today’s success.
Rindi Bristol was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The same place she still calls home today. Rindi attended college in the United States on an Athletic Scholarship. Rindi returned to Saskatoon a couple years later and attended the University of Saskatchewan where she studied Commerce (B.Comm, 2006). Happily married 16 years to her husband Troy, they have two children, Kale and Shea.
At the beginning as we create our career path, or educational path, does not guarantee what, or where, we will find ourselves creating success. Navigating opportunity requires taking personal and professional risks. Being aware and open to learn from and ask for assistance from those who have navigated risks before you; then, with support and determination, taking on individual risk in a new and innovative opportunity.
Agribusiness is evolving. Though the Pandemic forced us to pay attention to food security, many agribusinesses were already looking at their supply chain and sustainability. Shortening the chain and their carbon footprint. Canada has always been a leader in innovation and the agribusiness has been at the forefront – we just were not aware.
Rindi will share what took her to Sysco, drove her success, what moved her to leave Sysco to join Star Produce and take on new roles, responsibilities, and risks. From sales to innovation in supply chain.
This session will cover:
- Innovation in Agribusiness
- creating significant changes in where our foods come from
- finding and creating technology for the Canadian market – then beyond
- lessons learned
- How and when to take personal and professional risks without the formal education or previous experience
- What is next for the agribusiness

The WISC Association has and remains focused on support, development, and collaboration of women for women in supply chain. Our message, since COVID-19 became global, has been to recognize how women have been disproportionately impacted. We are excited that our focus and commitment resonates this year with the UN Women theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March 2021 (#IWD2021) of: “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.”
